DERBAUPOLIER is a long-term fetish and art project that has been developing for more than ten years — first in the mind and imagination of Peter Beck, and later more and more concretely through actions, images, videos and installations. The identity of DERBAUPOLIER dissolves the boundaries between lived reality, sexual fantasy, risky actions and artistic practice. What began as an inner figure has gradually become a performative persona moving through real spaces, situations and materials.

At night, DERBAUPOLIER moves through the city in search of construction sites, containers, temporary workers’ rooms and unfinished architectural spaces. Alone and dressed in workwear, he looks for access points, unlocked rooms and traces of recent labour: used clothing, tools, dust, dirt, beer bottles, cables, concrete, steel — and the lingering atmosphere of bodies that have just left the site. These places are not staged. They are entered, explored and documented as found situations, charged with both danger and desire.

Within the group exhibition 5TH ANNUAL PRIDE: A COLLECTION, a broad spectrum from the adventures of DERBAUPOLIER finds its place for the first time. The selected works range from nocturnal architectural photographs and strange parallel worlds to images of DERBAUPOLIER himself moving through these spaces. Empty construction sites become psychological landscapes; garages, corridors and temporary rooms turn into stages of projection, control, risk and loss of control. The photographs reveal the construction site not only as a physical environment, but as a charged zone between masculine labour, fetish, fantasy and performance.

When DERBAUPOLIER slips into used workwear, fantasy and reality begin to merge. The garment becomes more than a costume: it is a trace, a second skin, a way of entering the presence of other men through material, smell and imagination. The act of moving through these forbidden or semi-hidden places creates a tension between observation and participation, between documentation and obsession. The camera records fragments of these encounters — sometimes direct, sometimes suggestive — while leaving enough space for the viewer’s own projections.
